TJJ TODAY

Madres Poderosas

As well as raising funds and donating money we also realise the benefit of working alongside other organisations.  We have recently been introduced to Madres Poderosas.

The initiative to form this group came from a group of women from the municipality who wanted to offer a space to share experiences, frustrations and experiences with other mothers and thus be able to support each other in the valuable and sacrificial task of motherhood.  TJJ has already been able to buy nappies and essentials to help these families but we are also offering support to help the group to succeed and expand and offer friendship and fellowship to mothers who may feel isolated and lonely.

TJJ went to the Jávea Computer Club with Glendys and Daniela of the Madres Poderosas. The club members have donated two laptops to the group which will help them enormously in their day to day work helping women and children in Jávea.

The Jávea Computer Club refurbishes old computer equipment for donations to charity as an on-going project. If you would like to donate old equipment their address is:

ISVH Bomberos Voluntarios

TJJ Board members Carmen (President), Marianne and Anne met the ISVH Bomberos Voluntarios at their regular training session in Balcon al Mar yesterday. President Adrian Thornley showed us their 3 trucks.

The first is a T2 first 2-seater responder with a 500 litre tank and various hoses which can reach the site of a fire very quickly. The second is a bigger 4-seater truck with a 600 litre tank and a pump for use in wells or pools. It has also a tow bar to allow the carriage of extra equipment. The third is a well-equipped 8-seater truck that transports personnel to and from a fire. We were also shown their firefighting clothing. This group of 18 voluntary fire fighters, some of whom have no prior experience of fire fighting, are on continous stand by.

The Bomberos were delighted to learn that TJJ is donating another 500 euros to help their essential work in the community and they presented us with copies of their 2024 Bomberos calendar.

We invited them to follow us on FB and browse our website web to follow our fundraising activities. Of course, they would be most welcome to join us!
